Nike and Apple tell runners: "It's worth it"

AppleNike Inc. said it is making running shoes that will tell the wearer how far and how fast he or she has run and how many calories they have burned. The instant information will come from a miniature iPod and a new wireless system called Nike+iPod.

Using a Nike+iPod Sports Kit, miniature versions of the iPod will be able to give audio data on time, distance, pace and calories burned on-demand through an attachable receiver that gets data from a sensor in the insole of special Nike shoes.

iPod cellphones may be a reality soon

iPodJapanese web and telecom conglomerate Softbank Corp is working with Apple Computer Inc to develop cellphones with built-in iPod music players, Nikkei reported.

The music-playing phones can download songs from Apple's iTunes Music Store, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said. A spokesperson for Apple in Cupertino, California, was not immediately available for comment. The report said Apple and Softbank have agreed to co-develop the phone for sale as early as this year.

Apple sues Creative over iPod patents

iTunes starts selling Fox TV shows

iTunesApple Computer Inc.'s iTunes has started to sell episodes of shows from News Corp.'s Fox television network. Shows including "24" and "Prison Break," as well as FX Network shows such as "The Shield," are available on the download service.

iTunes has also started to sell episodes of older series, such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Lost in Space."
